The war is not between people. It is between what they believe.

And a theological war ends only with a theological answer.

In 1993 Samuel Huntington warned that the conflicts of the coming century would run along the fault lines of civilizations: culture and faith, not ideology or economics. The Twin Towers, the long confrontation between the United States and Iran, the spread of radical Islam through Europe, and October 7 all belong to that map. What is missing on every side is the willingness to name the root and speak about it. This booklet does.

The Return of Ishmael: Insights Following the Call to Muslim Clerics, by Rabbi Oury Cherki

Why the conflict does not end

Every ceasefire treats the symptom. The root is a disagreement about God, the Torah and the land.

A claim, not a border

The dispute is whether the Torah of Moses still stands, whether the Jews are a nation or only a religion, and whether their return to their land is a divine promise or an intrusion. No map redraws that.

Silence on both sides

For centuries almost nothing was written on what Judaism thinks of Islam. Diplomats avoid theology, and religious leaders avoid politics. So the root stays untouched, and the fruit keeps returning.

Put it on the table

Rabbi Oury Cherki wrote to the scholars of Islam and named the three points on which everything turns. He did not soften them. And, against every expectation, scholars answered.

If the roots are not clarified, the conflict will not end. If they are, it can.

Who stands behind this

Written in Jerusalem, under rabbinic authority.

Brit Olam, the Noahide World Center, was founded in Jerusalem under the presidency of Rabbi Oury Cherki to carry the covenant of Noah to the nations. The dialogue with the Muslim world grew out of that mission: the seven laws given to all humanity are the one ground on which Israel and Ishmael already stand together.
